    Summer Bucket list progress

What was it again I forget..
    1. lose 5-10 pounds: Well after being weighed I was surprisingly only 141 pounds. However, I'm larger than I was at my heavier weights. So I'm thinking I've been losing muscle mass and just becoming fatter. On the bright side I found this amazing belly dance cardio workout on Youtube. I thought it would be weak, was I ever wrong. No wonder belly dancers look like they do.

    2. Volunteer somewhere: I currently volunteer about 20 hours a week at Rockland Psychiatric Center. It has been one serious experience. The first day I'll admit I was a little scared. I mean the patients ranged from being not really violent but you could tell that something was definitely wrong mentally to being the stereotypical sort of mental patient. But even though they are mentally ill, they are actually really smart people. One of them is even an NYU law graduate. But they're jsut not right in the head. In fact one of them is really  sweet and always happy to see me and the nurse I work under. But she stabbed a pregnant lady. In fact, a new patient came in after having shot his neighbor and was walking around all bloody and not disturbed by it. But the one that really gets me is this lady who is delusional. As she got older she began to lose her sight but in her disturbed state she thought putting bleach in her eyes would solve the problem. Now she is stone blind. She lies in a reclining chair all day with her blanket. But for some reason I like going there.

    3. Reading most of the Barnes and Nobel classics: I'm trying with The Scarlet Letter but it is not going too well because there are plenty of words I don't know in that book. Ah well gotta keep trying.

    4. Study all of Pre-Med sciences: The ExamKrackers books are arriving. I did some Ochem yesterday...ahh there's nothing like the thrill of getting an answer right.

    5. Get a job:...

BTW...O...my goodness I'm completely obsessed with the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice. Wayyyyy better than the 2005 version. But then again they had to condense for the 2005 unless they wanted to make a 5+ hour movie. But Mr. Darcy...so in love with that guy. Why don't people act with such propriety and class anymore? Ugh looking at the modern world just disgusts me some times. Where are all the Mr. Darcies?

Why can't more men be like the Jonas Brothers?

So I just saw a clip of the upcoming Larry King episode and it was on the purity rings that Nick, Joe, and Kevin wear. I must say that besides them being super cute, them wanting and I stress wanting to hold on to their virginity just makes them plain irresistible. According to them it also has to do with them respecting women. As happy as it made me to see them, my heart sank because I know most men are not like them. Very few, pitifully few men are virgins after a certain age and even fewer are virgins by choice. Many of them would lose it if they had the chance. What defeats me is why people feel like their virginity is something that they have to lose. Like it's some badge of dishonor. Why can't more women see their innocence as a gift that they must protect at all costs and why can't more men have some self control over their lower half?! Ugh....

Mmm well I figure I should write something before this becomes another extinct xanga no?

So today I went for my volunteer training at Rockland Psychiatric Center. It was absolutely horrid to have to get up early in the morning again and even worse because the taxi that was supposed to take me there came early so I had to rush getting ready . In any case, I was about an hour early but w/e it's good ot make a good impression right? So I meet the nurse I'll be working with and she really made it clear to me that I need to make sure I never treat the patients s less than they are because alot of them were normal human beings before life dealt them a bad hand and something snapped. Only a few of them were actually diagnosed as children...it's crazy (no pun intended). But it looks like it'll be fun and sure beats staying at home. So just for you kim I found one of those questionaire things:

So I changed my mind because it started to have really stupid questions lol.
